I'm sure that even the the most seasoned Riders will be surprised by what she's found in this river valley we call home. So come-on, if you don't already own a copy of "Upper Mississippi Valley By Motorcycle", then this is your chance to receive an autographed copy donated by Kay Fellows. And don't worry, your best ride won't be ruined by to many DARN BIKERS using it. Entries will be compiled and available for viewing on qccruz-news. drawing the winner.

Take 84 N to Thomson. Turn right at the BP station to Argo Fay Rd. onto 78 through
Mt. Carrol and left on 20 to Elizabeth then take Scales Mound Road to Charles Mound, Il.
(highest point in Illinois). From there take parts of Stagecoach Road to Galena. On 84 S
turn right at Chestnut Mountain Ski resort following that great winding road with
beautiful scenery (for several miles) back to 84 to palisades park entrance and take the
ride up to the top of the park and back down to 84 into Savanna running on fumes for GAS
(pretty close to 150 miles). Filler up, stop at the Iron Horse for some good music
(Sunday ride) and on to Poopy's for some good chow and general camaraderie .
Go back to the steel grate bridge into Iowa and take 67 along the river to the I-80
bridge across the mighty Mississippi back into Illinois S 84 to the QC's.
Now there's a ride. ;-) Dennis H. East Moline, IL

Hello Gale!
Thanks for getting back. Guess I will omit a couple of sentences from the original article. Here it goes.
It was an exceptionally beautiful and balmy October day in 2005,when the leaves started to turn to vibrant colors. My
"faithful pilot "Dene-o and I decided to hop on the motorcycle for a shopping-spree at our favorite Harley Davidson store in
Clinton IA. After that, we shared a delicious meal at a local restaurant. Great scenery, good company, good food---that's
what it's all about!
To all of my fellow riders, have a wonderful and safe summer!

Hi Papa! I finally got around to writing that story. lots of homework. Well, the best motorcycle
ride I've ever been on is when I went to La Claire. It took about 45 minutes to get
there and was just a nice ride up there and back with a great view of the river.
I would much like to do
that ride again. Andrea W. Moline, IL.
( I want to thank my Granddaughter for taking the time
to enter the contest and sharing her favorite ride with her Dad.)

You know I have a lot of favorite rides. But one of the easiest is Iowa north of the QC. Rt 136 from Clinton to Maquoketa and/or past. Or come up from DeWitt to Charlotte on the county roads then take Rt 136. There's a lot of variations possible depending on how far west you go but you can do a lot of fun twisty ridin' in just a few hours:-) Steve R. Moline, IL. #7 -CENSORED- but fun! #8 My favorite ride is to New Diggings, WI. through Savanna!!!! thanks Gale, Mary H. Colona, IL. #9 OK, my favorite ride is taking Clay Street out of Savanna, IL. It’s a steep climb to the top but after you reach the twisties and riding the ridge to Elizabeth, IL it is well worth the challenge. Also, stay to the left when you get to the ‘Y’. Enjoy! Anonymous
