Adapt or Lose!
Motorcyclists and especially Illinois ABATE Blackhawk Chapter
members aren't about to lose. After so many years of putting this
event together it had to happen.  The Bears for Buddies Ride has
collected Teddy Bears for the Rock Island County Sheriff's
Department for as long as I can Remember.  They give these Bears
to youngsters involved in traumatic experiences.
When thrown a curve ball by that city that sits between Rock
Island and East Moline Illinois, which denied a parade permit,
Blackhawk made some last minute changes.  The Ride, which has
always been planned as a Police escorted Parade wouldn't be this
year.  Riders were instructed that they were on their own to get
from the Rock Island county Court House in Rock Island to
Illiniwek Part in Hampton, Illinois.  Where, the Bears would be
collected and Blackhawk ABATE was planning a Cook-out for
the participants.  All traffic laws were to be observed by the
 Riders.
As far as I know the only problem arose at the cook-out, where
the food ran short.  But hey, that's a good thing.  More Bikers
showed up than expected and a cruiser full of volunteer Bears were
collected.  Good job Blackhawk!  But hey, what is it with the city of
Moline?  Don't they like motorcyclists money?
