24th Annual ROD & CUSTOM
Auto, Motorcycle & Products Show
January 19-21 2007 QCCA Expo Center
Rock Island, Illinois
All in all it was a pretty nice show.
The weather was great for a January
Saturday in Rock Island. I made my way
past the Lot Full signs to one of the
satellite parking lots offering a brisk walk
to the QCCA Expo Center. It was about
1pm when I walked through the doors
and presented my pre-purchased ticket.
The floor was busy with attendants and
vendors all heading in different directions
and as always the sensory overload was
overwhelming. Beautiful works of rolling
ART covering the display area, vendor
booths lining the perimeter as well as
scattered amongst the infield. The ever
popular smell of festival foods garnished
with smoked almonds and pop-corn.
The great people at both Iowa and Illinois
A.B.A.T.E. Chapters were set up selling
raffle tickets and handing out information.
I met with Wally Nelson, Regional
Manager of WIZARDS Products and
discussed some of the new motorcycle
specific items they now carry. I started
using WIZARDS products on our Bikes
about four years ago and I'm sold on
them. The Wash super Concentrate and
Mist & Shine are winners in my garage.
David Sipes of HAMMER'S Cycle
Works in Aledo, Illinois and Tim Coffman
of Thunder Road Cycles Davenport,
Iowa were there manning their busy
booths and displays. Promoter Glenn
Rohm of Indoor/Outdoor productions
had an information booth set up for the
Sturgis on the River Event in June. Gery
Schemel from G-Max Productions was
set up selling Bus Tickets to the
Supercycle Show in Chicago on February
third. Leaving from Jammerz Roadhouse
at 7:30am a seat on the Deluxe Coach
only costs $38.00 per person and that
includes the price of the show ticket.
Not a bad deal at all. 3-D Sound
Company furnished the tunes and had a
couple tables worth of up-coming Car
Show flyers available to everyone.
I was happy to see more motorcycles
displayed this year. The Susan G. Komen
Foundation Custom Bike was on display
and will be available on E-Bay in May.
The winning bidder will take ownership of
the Bike at the Sturgis on the River
Motorcycle Rally in Davenport, IA on
June 6th.
Well, like I said. All in all it was a pretty
nice show. If you couldn't make this year
try a little harder to next year. In the mean
time check out the photos to the right.
If you did attend and have a picture or
more you'd like to share please e-mail
them in jpeg form to me. I'd be happy to
post them. Till' next time,
