What a success! Questionable weather changed to
a warm sunny sky and all the extra media coverage,
thanks to the cities of Moline and Rock Island,
brought even more validity to this 23rd Annual
Event. Even Dispatch Reporter Anthony Watt
wrote it took almost twenty minutes for the parade
to round the corner of 12th Avenue and 19th
Street in Moline. Man, I've waited longer than that
for trains! Way to go Riders and the Bi-State
Motorcycle Awareness Council for all your efforts!
I've been receiving e-mails asking when am I going
to post some pictures of the event? It's with a
reluctant heart that I have some explaining to do.
I know you've all heard of Dumb and Dumber, well
I have to be the Dumbest!
When my wife and I made it home after the parade,
I sat down to pre-view what was on my camera.
I have to admit I was thrilled by the amount of
photos I knew I could use and be proud to show
the world. This years Wedding, award ceremony
Blessing of the Bikes and the many participants
with their rides offered so many options I just knew
my coverage would be great! We were late for for
a Cinco-De-Mayo house party so I put the camera
down and left.
Sunday with great anticipation I grabbed the
camera and headed to the office, plugged it into the
computer and opened a new file to put all those
wonderful pictures in. Off and on during the
previous evening I had envisioned how I could use
all or parts of my Saturday catch. I had been so
anxious to get started. I 'hit' ENTER to open the
|
cameras file and ---WHAT THE HELL--- I
had
never seen this before!? My computer shows the
file is empty. Empty???? Wait a minute, I looked
at this yesterday and there where about fifty photos
on the cameras chip. Where are they? By this time
I'm half frantic and really Pissed. I'm not a violent
p-e-r-s-o-n but this situation is not funny. I tried
several more times without success to open my
treasure chest of memories. Gone! Gone like the
Christmas turkey in "The Christmas Story". Man
how did this happen?
It was at this point that I mentally retraced
yesterdays events and what did I do? The only
explanation I can come up with is. When I put the
camera down and left the house I may not have
shut it off causing it to go into a sleep mode. When
I plugged it in Sunday thinking it was off, it was
really already on. I do know that the camera is to
be off before plugging it into the computer. I'm not
the smartest knife in the drawer so if one of you out
there has a better explanation as to what happened
please let me know?
Thank God my wonderful wife took a couple
pictures that I can use and if I can count on you out
there to submit some you have I'll add them to this
page. I am so disappointed that this has happened.
This learning curve is more like a hairpin right turn
I never want to repeat. So don't give-up, the
season is just starting and there will be many more
pictures to come.
Thanks for putting up with this amateur...
