BRANSON  MOTORCYCLE  RALLY  V
May 19 to the 22 were the dates of the 5th Annual Branson Motorcycle Rally.  My wife and I have
thought about going to Branson, MO for some time now.  Neither of us had ever been there before.
So when we heard of the Rally, while attending the International Motorcycle Show in Chicago last
February, we decided to check it out.
Lacking the freedom of time we chose to use the super-slab system of Interstate Highways to get to
Branson.  I can't say it was an easy nine hour trip.  500+ miles is a long day on the road for us.
We did enjoy good weather and the change of scenery / topography past St. Louis helped pass the
time.  I learned that a lot of what I've heard about the area is true. You know, "it's a good crop of
Rocks this year" and how the folks there are born with one leg longer than the other.  A condition
that would be extremely helpful while trying to walk around the hills and valleys that make up the
  southwestern tip of Missouri.
The area is very beautiful, lush vegetation, huge lakes and more built for Riding roads than you can
imagine.  The Rally organizers thought ahead and developed no less than 14 different routes,
complete with maps, for the attendees to enjoy while visiting the area.  We managed to schedule a
couple in while enjoying other Rally attractions and of coarse seeing some of Branson's famous
celebrity shows.  Friday night we were introduced to the Branson Strip traffic.  What appeared to
be every human in Branson on the road at the same time.  Cars, tour buses and motorcycles all
crammed onto SR 76.  Traffic was stopped in every direction.  We managed to make it to a local
convenience store where we bought a four pack of drinks and waited it out!
All in all, we had a pretty good time while visiting Branson.  I think the things I'll remember most
are Billboards the height of skyscrapers, and so many you'll go dizzy trying to read them, SR 76,
the main route though Branson and Rick and Janet two new Biker friends from the Omaha area.
Would I recommend it to you?  Sure!

Did you notice the "Trumpster", half Triumph and half Sportster?
